PC Registry Review

System Mechanic is a popular registry cleaning program. According to System Mechanic, their program can detect and remove common registry errors and help your computer run faster and with less problems. The real question is; does System Mechanic live up to its claims?

System Mechanic was designed by the company iolo. iolo is a Microsoft Certified partner. In order to achieve this status, iolo must meet certain criteria outlined by the Microsoft corporation. This ensures that you receive a high quality product.

System Mechanic claims that it can optimize your PC’s startup, uninstall applications, clean your registry, repair your hard drive, defragment your computer, reconnect shortcuts, securely wipe your files, and more. After System Mechanic completes its job, your computer is supposed to crash less and run faster. We will look at whether or not System Mechanic works and how well it does its job.

One System Mechanic is installed, it pulls up the operator control board. This is both easy to use and easy to understand. The control board provides a gauge that informs you how your PC is doing. System Mechanic also places advertisements for their other products, here, on the control board. This feature does not interfere with the software’s functionality but is definitely annoying.

Once the software has determined the status of your computer, it provides the option to repair the errors automatically or to customize the tasks that it performs. System Mechanic really shines in this area. After the repair options are chosen, System Mechanic notifies the user of how these changes may affect the computer. This is a direct contrast to many registry cleaners that simply rip through your PC, making changes without informing you of how they can affect your computer’s future.

System Mechanic provides a progress bar, once the repairs start, that indicates where the system is at in the repairs and what it is repairing. These repairs generally take just a few minutes to repair. However, hard drive errors may require a system restart. Hard drive errors can end up taking a great deal of time to repair.

System speed and performance do seem improved once the system restarts. Increase were seen in application loads, desktop startup, and internet speed. This indicates some very good cleaning and repair.

Unfortunately, the software fails to indicate how it performed this cleaning and repair. This can be a little frustrating, especially for users who want to know why and how their PC was repaired. Yet, this is still a minor issue.

Overall, System Mechanic has proven to be a high quality registry cleaner that really can enhance your computer’s performance. The claims the company makes seem to hold true and all issues found were minor when considering how well the software works. After taking a look at everything, System Mechanic was found to be a worthwhile investment.
